Apple made its iOS 15.4 Beta 2 available for the public and you want to know what you can expect from the next big update. We get that. So without further ado, this is what’s new in iOS 15.4:
One of the most notable new features is Tap to Pay, a cool new feature that turns iPhones* into credit card payment terminals like we explained here. However, Tap to Pay won’t be up and running until later this year while it is only rolled out in the U.S. at first. So other countries will have to wait a bit, but more on that later.
*Note that Tap to Pay requires an iPhone XS or newer to work properly.
With the iOS 15.4 Beta 2 release we also get to add notes to any password entry like with other password manager apps. Awesome for when you’re losing track of all your different passwords, but use with caution since it might compromise security.
iOS 15.4 offers more support for the custom email domain feature in iCloud+ plans (paid). You can now easily set up a custom domain with iCloud Mail on your phone, which is great news for business owners and employees who use a corporate iPhone. This makes emailing a lot easier!
Apple made big changes to their notification system. For instance you can now toggle notifications for Personal Automations in the Shortcuts App on and off by turning on ‘Notify When Run’. You can also choose to not receive a notification when a particular Shortcut activates. Also, we’ve seen some early signs of support for push notifications from web-based apps in Safari.
Although maybe a bit premature, analysis iOS 15.4 Beta 2 revealed that Apple may be planning to support digital ID’s and driver’s licenses in their Wallet. In addition, vaccination records such as the EU Digital Covid Certificate can now be added to the Wallet or Health App for easy access.
These are other notable new features and quality of life updates in iOS 15.4:
